Thales
Transparency throughout the
entire purchase-to-pay
process

Thales SA (Paris) is a defense and technology group divided into the areas of defense, security, transport, and aerospace. THALES employs around 85,000 people in 68 countries and had an annual turnover of €17.6 billion in 2022. For Thales, we made the entire purchase-to-pay (P2P) process more transparent and significantly increased the controllability of offers, prices, and services.

The challenge

Thales already had a digital solution for the accounts payable department. The greatest potential for efficiency lies in automating the entire purchase-to-pay (P2P) process and significantly increasing the degree of automation of all sub-processes. In addition to implementation, the challenges included precisely identifying the potential and the necessary implementation steps.

Our services

  • Identify the core objectives for the process improvements
  • Developing an improved user experience for suppliers and purchasing staff within SAP
  • Planning and implementing a flexible workflow to control the approval process
  • Development of a web-based interface to integrate all approval instances from the system

Result: A better basis for profitable supplier management

Thanks to the new P2P solution, Thales now benefits from far more control over its purchasing process. The increased transparency has created a noticeably improved basis for price and condition negotiations or, for example, the possibility of supplier evaluation and consolidation. At the same time, process costs for purchasing, logistics, and accounting have been reduced. Thales was also able to improve processes in accounts payable accounting. Far more incoming invoices are now automatically compared with the order data and posted automatically.
